The chilling effect of GenAI on scientific and computer science research
Ever since the release of ChatGPT, some scientists have been totally flabbergasted and came to the (incorrect) conclusion that their field of research was dead, and they would be better off to go planting pumpkins or shoveling shit in a pig farm.
This has had an effective chilling effect that can be seen in some fields, like (put links) where I can see the research has either stopped entirely or has been replaced by research on LLMs
